New Woodworking Forum with old Knots Friends
Friends,
There is a new woodworking forum called “The Burl”. I urge you to try it out. The architecture will be familiar to you, as will most of the folks there. They are from here, and most are using the same names they use here. It was started by old friend, Mike Flaim (mvflaim). It is free, and it ACTUALLY WORKS — threads, posts, photos, etc. You can get there by going to this address:
http://forums.delphiforums.com/burl
Later, when Knots gets its problems straightened out, we can all come back here, or maybe Knots can just move over there. SInce we are just playing with electrons here on the Internet, the two solutions are isomorphic.
Have fun,
Mel

I just saw a post over there by a member named StanfordChas... If enough people start posting over there, it could be a really fun forum. So far there are 170 members so the opportunity is there.
Mike,
StanfordChas would be Charles Stanford, aka Boss Crunck, and many other aliases. He is a top notch professional furniture maker who is one of my favorite people. I hope he comes often to the Burl. His invitation to join you is a real compliment to you. I will do my best to get more folks to join your forum.
May the Force be with you.
Mel
just dropped by over there
they wouldn't let a "whitedog" in, but they did let a bandit571 in. See you soon.
Dog,
Nice work on that rocking chair. I am thinking that you don't have time to sleep. Glad to hear you registered at The Burl. It is going to be fun over there. Please write to your friends and suggest they joing.
Mel
Just for clarification Mel !
Would the top notch furniture maker and one of your favorite people be one of the same whose work you have never seen ?
Very Interesting . Explaining how to play the guitar and playing are not to be confused as the same ,,, kind of like Golf .

do you notice
how these complex questions never get answered

Jerry,
THanks for letting me know. I have joined also, and am telling all my friends. Please tell yours. You are one of the Founding Fathers of a new Nation of Woodworkers, seeking to protect their way of life, and to carry on the old traditions. :-)
See you on the other side.

On Board
Mel,
I'm there to give it a try. I used to be Reg66 at Knots but over there I'm 66reg.

looks fantastic!
That's like an old visit back home!
Bones,
GLAD YOU ENJOYED IT. You made my day. Thanks for letting me know.

I signed up as well. I'm
I signed up as well. I'm JimReedy over there.

Jim,
Glad to hear that you have joined the old group. I am not recommending anyone leave Knots, just that they join in over at the Burl. Best I can tell FWW is letting Knots problems go unsolved. This can't go on forever. Either they will come around, or Knots will fold for lack of interest. Meanwhile, The Burl is a good free place which operates well and without problems, like Knots used to. Now we just have to get more people in there and we will have revived the old Knots.
Thanks for letting me know. See you in the Burl.

Couldn't remember my password so now I'm in as 1trialnut.
Like you, I can't remember all of my passwords. I hate to admit it, but I have a pad that I keep them written down on.
So now I am not the only person with numbers in their name. Thanks for the company.
People have asked where 9619 came from. It's my street address number. Nothing more complex or devious than that.
See you in the Burl. See if you can talk a few of your friends in to joining the Burl too. Thank you.
Mel
I'm spoiled
>>>Like you, I can't remember all of my passwords. I hate to admit it, but I have a pad that I keep them written down on.<<<
My Mac remembers them all for me. Unfortunately, that means if I use another computer, good luck to me! From a woodworking perspective, I'd take a burl over a knot any day. Writing this post, I just remembered that pasting is messed up here.
Chris,
You and I find a number of ways to interact - regular email, facebook, Knots, and now The Burl. I think the internet world could fall apart without hurting our chances of sharing woodworking information. And you live in a foreign country!!!! Ha ha ha ha ha. Everything is relative, isn't it?
Have fun.
Mel
signed up.
I signed up also Mel.
See you all there Salamfam
Thanks for the directions...
Mel,
Thanks for the directions to the new site. I just went over and registered - looks good! I can see I'll be spending some time over at the new place.
I'm not giving up on Knots. I think of Knots like I think of an good old friend who took a turn for the worse, developed some bad habits and is acting like a jerk. There's history there. So I'll stick around while FWW goes through denial, then rehab then sees the way and makes things right for the people who helped make it what it was.
I'm not a frequent contributor, but I'll be popping into both sites, enjoying the cast and learning.
Frank
Frank,
I am not giving up on Knots either. But the Burl lets us get with a lot of old friends who have left here. I miss them. Not long ago, I could ask a question on Knots and get a dozen or more responses that day. Now, there doesn't seem to be a dozen messages a day on all of Knots. Very sad for those of us who have loved this place for a long time. See you in both forums.
Mel
Thanks, I'm there as jerrynazard
Jerry,
Great to hear from you. Even better - I'll see you at the Burl too. Maybe the competition will be all that FWW needs to get Knots up to speed again. I hope that is the case, but somehow, I find it hard to believe.
Have a great December. Make some masterpieces
Mel
