Mr McAllister’s work is just outstanding and he has been recognized as a master at his task. I would like to add a little something to his recognition: He is one of the nicest guys you want to meet. On one of my trips to a Colonial Williamsburg/FWW seminar, I had the chance to sit down and talk with this guy. He’s a WW II P-51 fighter pilot, graduate of a great school in NC – Davidson College and one of the most humble guys you’ve ever met. At the time, I needed some advice on shell carving and he just poured out the information and invited me to his house if I could make the trip some time. You do the math: if he was an aviation cadet in 1943 he’s got to be in his 80’s now and still building beautiful stuff like that Newport Clock. I hope somebody out there can get a chance to meet this guy- you won’t be disappointed.

I have to agree. John is one of the nicest and most giving individuals I have ever met. A walk through his house would be like a trip through a museum with the curator at your side.

Maybe but... I haven't come across a curator at the major museums I have toured that put the tools to the wood like Mr. McA. Lucky to know him.
