Gentle woodworkers:
For some months now I have been bulding a Newport Style Tall Clock, as shown in Fine Woodworking. I fell in love with the cabinet design. However, I underestimated the complexity of installing 2 quaitz movements needed to operate the hour/minute hands plus a second hand. My clock does not include the weights and pullies that usually operate in a tall clock. The movements are simple battery operated units. The shafts that turn the hands are too short to reach the clock dial. This is caused by the need to mount one unit behind the other in order to have access to the batteries. Are there extensions available for purchase, if not, are there units with shafts 3 to 4 inches long?
Is ther anyone out there that I can consult on how to install the quartz movements?
In Need of Help,
MIKE EDWARDS

Thanks for the suggested source.

Seems a real shame to build such a case and not use a high-quality, traditional movement.
Good luck, though.
