No dust collection ports on band saws
I’ve noticed that a lot of the current band saws in the stores do not have DC ports. What gives?? To me, hooking a DC up to my band saw is essential.

My 14" Delta sufferes from this and in resawing it is an issue. I took a 1 x 4 about 3' long and screwed it to the base, with the top at about the bottom of the table, and then hang my 5" DC tube on it. It gets maybe about 50% of the sawdust, which is better than nothing. Looking for a new bandsaw now, and am considering the Northfield 20", used of course, but don't know about the DC on it. It is one of the few bandsaws which my basement ceiling height will tolerate, it seems. Anyone habve any opinion on this saw?
i used the 4" port (which is an option) on the delta and drilled a hole for another 4" port in the lower door. works much better now.

That sure beats the whimpy little 1 1/2" thing that's standard. I spent a half hour tonight getting a piece of old vacuum hose stretched onto this thing so I had some semblance of sawdust exhaust. How much, if you don't mind me asking, did the 4" port cost? Seems like they realy ding you with the optional stuff.

i don't recall, it was some time ago. i'd guess in the $25 range. Highland Hardware is where I bought it. You could check their website.
I used a 4" tin heating duct with the fold down tabs, got it at a heating shop for about $1.50 then attached the small size coffee can to it, the 369 g size (ha, ha....) 4" hose fits right over it. Put it at the bottom front of the door and it gets about 95% of the dust.

I believe it will fit most 14" saws.

I had a old 14 that had no ports. just mounted a hose under the table.
I have a italian bandsaw too, with two ports. I'm trying to stop buying foriegn products. I'm trying to buy local only(American!!!!!!), Goto Shows, you get to really have a choice.

Checked the link, but not sure of how it fits on the saw. Do you have a picture? I'll check with Delta to see if it fits on a '49 metal/wood model. For now I have a 2 1/4" DC connection on the lower cover. I also have lined the bottom of the wooden blade guide (left side to upper wheel) with sticky backed Velcro fuzz and attached a sawn-off toothbrush for the wheel. Probably 75% effective.John O'Connell - JKO Handcrafted Woodworking
