FWW Selecting and Drying Wood says that about 50% of the lumber harvested from a log isn’t suitable for furniture, only “…fence posts and barns”. Can this non-furniture grade lumber be used for building, say, paint grade passage doors, exterior doors or paint grade kitchen cabinet doors?
Thanks for your help Gary,
Dave

Hi,
I think this grade of wood is really and truly suitable only for fence posts. It's filled with knots, checking, twist, and other defects. But there's nothing stopping you from searching out utility grade lumber and seeing what you can make from it. I've made tables out of pallet wood. Have fun with it.
