As befalls we hobbiest every now and then, a neighbor stopped by yesterday with a frame his son and daughter in law had given him with a piece of modern art behind the glass. The art work (done by his first grandchild, now about 18 months old) was damaged when he dropped it but of course one of the corner miters busted open. Asked if I could fix it for him…..
(We all know how this goes).
So, I opened the frame corner up today – should be an easy fix, However… it’s not wood.
I’ve seen this stuff before, don’t know what it’s called. Its a man-made cellular type product. Some sort of heavy duty foam? I think they now make low-end mouldings from this stuff?
My question – What do I use to glue the corner back together? I suspect there a many glues, maybe most, that will just dissolve the material. Poof. No frame repair.
Any and all assistance, comments, ribbing welcome.
Thanks!

Drill a hole inside the frame to get a sample. I think I'd test a polyurethane glue and a construction adhesive like PL first. Adding a key through the corner will top your belt with suspenders.
OR: Make a nicer frame for him to accept the same glass, art, & backing and tell him you did all you could, but the patient died on the table.
It's probably a cellular PVC. Polyurethane glue or epoxy should do it.
Thanks, all! Have a super day.
