I have a basic question on formulas for using beeswax for a wood polish around the apartment. Solvents like turpentine, linseed oil and mineral spirits seem most common; or mineral oil as a food grade formula. My wife would like me to consider using a vegetable based oil like Olive or Walnut as the solvent. Is the downside just cost, or are there performance issues in the near and longer term?I also had an older recipe that used some rosin. What would this contribute to the mixture?

nix on the olive oil
I think the olive oil will smell and get rancid. I have used mineral oil and parafin wax for wooden spoons.
For now and future reference

For some reason I couldn't bring up a link to a third very good article with wax finish recipes see
FWW January/February 2000 pages 46 to 51 by Stuart M. Altschuler called A Wax Primer
once again a very good article worth tracking down in a back issue available here
