Try using a desiccant such as corn meal or corn starch, cover the oil spill and rub it into the stain. Allow to sit for a while and repeat. The corn meal or starch will suck up the oil. Calcium chloride also works.

*After following Stephen's advice, using a white pigmented shellac primer would be a good idea to avoid adhesion problems if any oil remains. Bin is a common brand of such primer, but there might be others.- Rod Cole
