What is a “workshop system.” I’m pretty sure I don’t have one.

Perhaps this is the forum to discuss things such as dust collection, shop heating/cooling systems, electrical, compressed air, etc.. ??
Your definition is spot on.
Might be a good place to post pictures of our shops, heating, special equipment, etc.

And cures for systemic disorganization!
I love seeing the solutions others have come up with to solve organizational and space utilization problems.

Here, Here!!! I built my new shop 2 years ago, and still haven't had time to build the cabinets, etc..... for all my tools. Right now, I've got a bunch of steel shelf units purchased at Sam's Club (buyers club), and am extremely sick and tired of looking at them. I can't wait until the current project is finished, so I can finally do some work for myself.

I am building a new house early next year and the WHOLE basement wil be mine, ALL MINE for my work shop. Now I have to decide where everything goes, how I want to use the space (approx 40x 50ft) and than wire it for my tools. Of course it will be a never ending job to get it right. Any pictures and layouts, that you have of your shop would be a great help. I know everyone will do the same job there own way, but new ideas are always welcome. Just think how you would feel if you were given a clean slate to start with. I might add that money is a problem, but design ideas are always a help. Thanks in advance.

Believe me.....try to setup your shop the way you want it before you start doing other work. I said that I would complete the inside of my shop and organize it when my list was wittled down. Guess what? The list never gets any shorter. I still have along way to go to get the inside the way I want it as far as appearance but I have finally after almost 4 years I am getting closer to being organized.
These are some of the ideas I came up with for my shop. These photos have not been updated in awhile but you'll get the idea.

nice, very nice. can I come and play at your house. I will clean windows LOL and sweep up after myself. I envy your great shop. Have fun doing that honey do list.
Thanks Tom,
My shop is always open to fellow wood workers that need a place to work.

That is great advice. I built my new shop 2 years ago, and did the same thing. I told myself I'd finish the walls and make tool storage cabinets as soon as I got caught up. Rubbish!! I'm further behind now than I was then, and I'm still staring at paper backed insulation. Nice shop!! Did you clean it for the photos, or do you keep it that dust free??!! LOL!
Jeff
Thanks Jeff,
I do cleanup before taking photos usually but my shop is usually pretty clean because I cleanup as I go and as far as tools go, they are handy to the assembly arear and it is as easy to put them back in place instead of leaving them sit in my way.

My shop is 4 years old and also still has shelving from Lowes. Why sweat it. I had rather make "things" for the house than for the shop. When SWMBO says I have all the Honey Do's complete, then I'll start on making the shop pretty.
A bad day woodworking is better than a good day working -- yes, I'm retired!
you'll never get around to the shop then!1 - measure the board twice, 2 - cut it once, 3 - measure the space where it is supposed to go 4 - get a new board and go back to step 1
Maybe true but then, I'll hopefully have a looong marriage.

yes, but will you be happy?
