Iam doing my outside of my home with 100 yr old gray barn wood, I have used a wire brush and some sand paper to keep it alive and to show its true beauty and next i will use some dark caulking and then use some Thompson water sealer for my finish coat and not use any stain to take away from it natural looks. I just wanted to know how many coats should i use and how long should i wait till i apply more coats to my porch and home.
I hope to post some before pics and after pics when done ??

Sealing wood
I would think - 2 full coats should be fine. Does the Thompson's Can give any direction - or the web site ?

Years ago I was told that Thompson Water Seal was mainly wax, which was why water beaded so well. Don't know if that's still the case, or whether it would matter to you.
