Old tools seem to follow me home like lost puppys. I found a 1950s dwalt model mb radial arm saw that takes a 8 to 9 inch blade. The saw is in very nice condition and runs like a swiss watch. I am putting a new table on it. The question is is this saw have enough hp (3/4hp) to use a stack dado blade. And can I use a 8 inch one or do I need a 6 inch one.
The arbor is 5/8 inch but not that long.
Thanks
Troy

I have used my 8" Systimatic stacked dado set on my Delta 900, which is a 9" radial arm saw with a 3/4 hp motor. The saw takes a moment to get up to speed, but works well enough. I prefer to use one of my larger radial arm saws with the dado set, but I needed the turret feature of the 900 so I could turn the blade at an angle and plow out a wide, shallow groove to make some moldings (the saw was locked in place and I pushed the moldings, similar to a ripping operation.)
