Old iron band saw – ID?? free on CL
Anyone recognize the brand of this band saw:

It’s free on Craig’s list, Seattle-Tacoma area. Looks like a good winter project if it’s a decent brand.

It looks like a Lemon to me, they made tools of all variety and a good many have passed through my hands over the years.
Too funny! Since it's teamed up with a free ShopSmith, that wouldn't be surprising, LOL. I have zero experience with "old iron" so wouldn't know a good one without asking.

Gee, The casting looks quite massive. For free its worth a drive. Are there more Pics at CL ? Don't see a table, or lower trunions. Then pass it on as a boat anchor.

What's funnier is the following "some kind of table saw"....

forestgirl,
C'mon, we all know that's the latest lazer guided tablesaw.
You can tell by the adjustable fence holding mechanism on the left, the laser mounted on the top right of the arm, and the patina on the table to keep the wood from squibbling around during the cut.
And all this time I thought you were a powertool expert!
Get in touch with Sarge or Mel. I'm sure they will confirm my analysis.
A huge GRIN!

Gee what's the gripe, It has a work light and those spring tensioned blade holders give you a very true up/down blade motion.
But all kidding aside, this storage area looks very familiar. Wasn't there a post many months ago where a guy posted pictures of an old monster jointer, light green radial arm and other old Iron that he had to move.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Hi FG ,
Without any better photos from what I can see the BS looks like it could be a meat or butchers bandsaw , my guess would be Toledo may be the brand name . Typically the meat saws had sliding tables , looks like the original is missing .
have at it dusty
"have at it" Not me! Actually, I suppose we could use a meat saw if Nick's hunting aspirations for the next couple of years pan out (elk, deer), but he can restore the saw, LOL! I'm gonna put my time into the little Inca. ;-)forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I know an old timer who converted a meat saw for wood use and he uses it to resaw .
My old 14" Delta band saw still has blood stains from where the former owners employees came in on the weekend and butchered a deer on it .
You got that old Inca purring yet ?
dusty
Haven't had time to touch the Inca yet. We've been painting and installing hardwood flooring, with a short (time-wise) trip to NE Washington inserted -- covered 1000 miles in a shy 3 days. Given the condition of the house right now (hurricane's leave less of a mess!), it's gonna be awhile before the Inca gets any attention. I'm riding again, too, and that's taking up 2-3 hours/day (and a bottle of Naprosyn a week, LOL!)
Problem with all this home-improvement stuff is, now I may have to make some furniture. Haven't been at all tempted to even think about it when the flooring and wall projects were pending -- needed as little furniture as possible, gets in the way . Now, it's easy to see where we could use an entry bench here, a shoe cabinet there, a blanket chest hither. Uh-oh.
We looked at a house that hubby's interested in, will come on the market in about a year. Whether we can afford it is up in the air -- depends on several factors -- but if it comes to pass I'll have a shop with more room than I could possibly use up. Big, tall, nice! Not counting those chickens yet though. Beautiful site. We sat there eating lunch with the owners, and I saw a bald eagle fly right past the window 3 different times!
Hope all's well with you........forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Morning Jamie...
Looks like you found enough free cast iron that melted down could pay for the house you guys shopped. I am not an old iron man, but I have to agree with Dusty that it indeed looks like an old Toledo meat band saw.
The last one I saw was at Mr. Maughon's Grocery in my home-town. Mr. "M" died two years ago and his body was horse and carriage drawn from the court-house in town to the cemetery. Everyone walked behind in testament of times gone by as his grocery was the last of about 15 of what can be called the shooting gallery groceries. All about 30' wide and 100' deep from front to back.
Just call em up and tell em what ya need. It got hand-billed on your charge account and you went in and paid at months end. And the high point was that they pulled your grocery list.. put in an old Chevy pick-up and delivered to your door. And of course in true southern style.. the elderly got special treatment as it was un-bagged and put up on their shelves for them.
Thanks for the pics as it brought back memories of simple times from the past....
Regards...
Sarge..
