Folks, Ihave a 1957 delta/rockwell 9″ table saw/joiner combination. Same 3/4 horsemotor supplies the umff to both with a belt change. Its small but my space is not big and this unit fits perfectly . Question? Can I change the diminuative 3/4 horse motor for a 1 & 1/2 horse motor and if I can, where would I begin to look for such an item. The machine is solid and fills my needs the motor is simply getting old and I’m wondering what to do next.
Thanks,
Mike M

As long as the motor fits the mount and you can get the blade spinnig at the right RPM them you can stick just about any size motor on your saw you want. Weight maybe a issue on the mount if you get a real old heavy motor like I have on my old saw (which is the same as yours).

Mike, you had asked about sources for the motor. If you want to go 'top drawer' Tool Crib sells Baldor motors. A 1.5 hp will run about $250 maybe. Grizzly sells motors too, but they wouldn't be the quality of a Baldor.
The trick's going to be getting one that physically fits your machine, or can be modified (or the machine modified) to hold it. You might want to call Delta and see if they can help. 'Course they could probably provide a motor also.
