WG,
One man's junk is another man's treasure.
I can't believe that anyone who does fine work has really junk tools. They might be dull, dirty and rusty because someone stored them in a heap behind the woodshed.
Your first job is to clean them, de rust them ,oil and sharpen them and (Importantly)store them in a dry environment.
Look in on them occasionally and USE them. Build a fine toolbox to house them and provide extra room for additions to your treasures.
Some day another lucky guy will inherit them and perhaps brag about all the fine work YOU made with them.
I still have some tools which were owned by my granddad and my dad. Every tool is a pleasure to hold in my hands All are of steel, iron, wood or brass (Or any combination of the same.)
No plastics, no cheap white metal, no rubberized handles Some are repaired, but work as well as when new. Every new addition is stripped down and adjusted, sharpened, and polished as soon as I get them home.
I,m a sucker for C clamps, as I'm always crafting something or other needing to be clamped and glued or screwed or.. .skewed?
I must have a hundred here, and another fifty loaned out to a gunsmith. I hope you give your tools a new home and let me know how they work out after you restore them. Steinmetz.
Stein, After reading your post to Will it is now confirmed that you must have been cranking me about my screw driver post<G>.
If you can have a "thing" about some pesky C clamps ....lol.
Sorry Will, just had to chime in here.
