Anybody else have a softspot for these old ‘locomotive’ sanders? When i apprenticed in a cabinet shop 40 years ago, these were the workhorses of the shop, and we developed quite a good feel for them, even doing very fine sanding, which is surprising given their weight (27lbs) and power (14 amps).

Love those! I worked in a studio in the 80's building sets and there were 5 or 6 of them. On slow days we'd put down 2x6s to make lanes hold belt sander races. We'd line them up and plug them in on 30' extension cords. It was a hoot!
I'm pretty sure that Christian Becksvoort uses at least one of them.
I've never had the pleasure, but they do look awesome!
I think Chris Becksvoort uses one of those.
