Is anyone using the Oldham 8″ stack dado? I don’t see much info on it and Oldham’s regular blades seem to be either really good or really lousy. The Oldham can be had for much less than most others, but then again, you get what you pay for usually.

For $10 more you can get the Freud 8" Safety Dado. No question about quality there, IMHO. Excellent value.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Actually I have the opportunity to get the Oldham for $55 shipped, but if it is junk, then it still is not a good buy. I also wonder why there is such a dearth of info on the new Dewalt Dado. It looks nice, but that doesn't mean it cuts nice. I don't believe the Dewalt was in FWW's test from this time last year. Don't know that the Oldham was, but I don't recall and don't have that issue.
I'm with FG for a different reason. A Dado set up can get REALLY ugly if it binds. That is if the blades are not sharp and they suddenly grab instead of cutting. I am told that dado's are not even allowed in European shops. If one blade is scary, think about seven. Buy it once! I say get the Freud.
Good Luck,
John
