Hi my name is dkeeney and I work a t small cabinet shop in MD. We have downloaded Google SketchUp here where I work at. I have been playing around with it lately since I am in a down time on drawings. <!—-><!—-><!—->
I notice you can import a AutoCAD drawing file into SketchUp like a side view of a cabinet section, but when I do this it come in a top view when I want it as a side view like a vertical section.<!—-> <!—->
My question is who do you do this as in changing the object from a top view to a side view which would be the correct way of viewing to work on it? <!—-><!—->

After importing the CAD file, you can select it and rotate it to a vertical position so that it is oriented as desired. You will probably have to orbit to a low view point in order to get the Rotate tool to align itself corectly. You could also draw a box to give you a face on which the Rotate tool can be placed for alignment. Once the tool is aligned as needed, hold the Shift key to lock that alignment.
Okay and thanks.
