my workshop is very clean right now, but I wouldn’t really want to clean it this way again! we got a bit of rain this weekend that put right around 4.5 feet of water into my basement workshop.
so in being true to my sawdust nature, my tools are now in the living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. I lost a ton of other stuff, but my wood and tools, except a couple of palm sanders, survived!
here’s a pic of my workbench before the Fire dept told us to leave the house.

man thats a bummer
Wow, Darryl, my condolences! I figured you were probably in New England, and sure enough. Bummer. Glad your big tools are OK. Haven't seen the picture yet, 'cause I'm at home (dial-up). Will check it out on the new DSL tomorrow.

Darryl: Sorry to see and hear your troubles, man. No structural damage I hope. Say, are we having a (worldwide) excess of disasters lately? This has been a terrible year for this kind of stuff from tsunami to earthquakes to hurricanes, bird flu, what is next? I live in earthquake country, no warning at all. Every so often there is a little one to remind us but someday the ''big one'' will happen, I try to take reasonable precautions and get on with life. Too much worry, over time, will have as much effect as a disaster.
Good luck, Duke

Other side of the big pond Duke, but I'm not far from the ring of fire either, and we're overdue for the big one! Geological record says that about every 350 to 400 years there's a really biggie on the New Zealand South Island's Alpine Fault (our equivalanr of the San Andreas) and there hasn't been one for nmore than 400 years!
It would be me that declares the state of emergency, so I worry about this stuff.
Hope you can pull your outfit together Darryl! Best wishes.

And just the other day I was complaining when I had to suck up a couple of vac loads (small Fein) of water from my basement... You're most calm considering.
My sister had a huge flood in her basement, but I don't think even it was on the level that you have, and what a mess. Hope things sort themselves out and that the damage is minimal.
PS: if that were in our basement my scream would have been heard on Whidbey Island.
Major bummer. Sorry for the trouble. I hope all can be recoverd...

I've heard of dampening the floor to keep the dust down... but hell fire Darryl..!!
Hope the damage is limited to easily replaced stuff....

Stay safe....Have fun
Hey Darryl,
Sorry about the misfortune. How long do you think you'll be displaced? Man, it has been a couple of years of wierd weather stuff. I left New England to escape the brutal winters we had been having, and landed in central Fla. in time for 3 hurricanes to criss-cross over my new place........just no way to truly prepare for mother nature.
Hope things return to normal for you ASAP.

Damn! Life sucks sometimes! Geeee..
Hope all is well and you get through it with a 'sort of' smile
