Oneida Portable 2.5HP dust collector
Does anyone have experience with the Oneida 2.5 HP Portable dust collector.
I am in the process of replacing my old, less than effective, dust collector. My basement shop lacks the ceiling height necessary for most of the Oneida units so I am looking at the 2.5HP Portable Unit. Customer service at Oneida indicates that although the unit is intended for portable hook-ups as required using a 15 ft flex hose, it can be permanently connected to metal conduit. The claim is that the portable unit is comparable in specs to the 2HP Super Gorilla.
Comments would be appreciated

I'm looking at the same, and curious about the answer to unionville's questions. thanks
Sykesville,
I thought I had replied to Al but can't find it right now. Yes I have the Oneida portable dust collector and am using it in a fixed configuration. I have 4" PVC running to each location. Longest run is less than 20 feet. I am running a cabinet saw, 8" jointer, 13" planer, and bandsaw. It handles them with no problem even if I forget and leave unused gates open. I was using it mobile. The casters on it suck so I put a piece of 3/4 plywood under it and gave it some decent casters. It moves around easily now. I got of tired of moving that heavy 5" hose connection from machine to machine. Now I have 4" drops to each machine except the saw and jointer. It is easy to swap from one to the other. I had some reservations about the fit and finish when I first got it but it is mostly cosmetic and the machine works great. I highly recommend it.

Thanks, George
I can see getting tired of moving the hose... I can't see the casters sucking at that price. I guess that's minor, but still.
Do you get any small dust in the air or on surfaces around the canisters?
A little bit of dust on the top of the cannisters. Nothing significant. I haven't worried about where it is coming from. The casters just are not heavy enough for the load. In the first couple of days I managed to bend the shafts on three of them.
