opinions on the Laquna 18 inch Italian made bandsaw
Hello
I am intersted in purchasing a 18 inch bandsaw and I saw a video about the Italian version of the 18 inch Laquna bandsaw. It is quite a bit more expensive than the off shore eastern version ;but, the reviewer remarked it is so superior to the other models it is worth the extra money. I would really like some input into this purchase –we bleieve in buying machinery once even if the price is higher I want the best option. Thanks and Happy Hoildays

Band saws
Have a look at the Mini Max line of tools. I went to the IWF several years ago and was in the market for a band saw myself and the first one I looked at was the Felder. The Felder sales man was very nice but told me to look at the Mini Max line of saws and to this day I still thank him. The reason was that the shipping cost was very high and would price there saw out of the marker they want to sell entire shops full of tools and the shipping would be less per tool as he explained it to me. He also said that most of the good band saws are mfg. in Italy and after looking he was correct. At the time I was shopping Laguna was going through growing pains and did not have saw with a large motor as the Mini Max did and it was made in Asia. I understand this has changed and Laguna has as you said saws made in Italy as well.
I ended up buying the Mini Max MM-16 at the time and they have a newer and larger resaw capacity on the new model. the old one can resaw up to 12 1/2" I forget what the new one can resaw. They also have larger band saws as well.
The MM 16 saw is serving me very well.
I have had a Laguna LT18 since August 2001 and not a single problem since. Mine is the original design with the 12" resaw capacity; the new LT18 has 18" resaw capacity. Not sure what the 3000-Series machine capacity is. I upgraded mine with the ceramic guides, as the original Euro guides were less than ideal. I am not going to knock other manufacturer's offerings, but the MiniMax and Agazzani machines get great comments from their users also. And I would get another Laguna bandsaw in the event a UFO crashes into my shop. Not an endorser here; just a satisfied owner/user. Stay safe and watch those fingers.
