   I have one in the corner gathering dust and my friends just bought a couple in the last year for 200-250 here in the southeast. That vise must be right out of the box or wrapped in the original paper. Collectors item??

   Dan,

   Any interest in selling that thing, since it's gathering dust? The antiques scene here in Southern Mississippi is non existent, so the only ones I come across are on ebay in the mid to high hundreds of dollars. I  could give it a good home and put some cash in your pocket;)

   thanks for the offer but -- not a chance. mine was given to me by one of my favorite kentucky rifle builders before he died. That will only go to my son or the grandson if they choose to build rifles as per my friends request.

   keep looking and contact some people to get feelers out for you. the mid-west tool collectors are a great source. if you look at roy underhill or the woodwright shop website you will eventually find something on the tool societies. put in a plug and wait.

   on my end, I will put out a word. The Emmert vises are like Stanley 55's. People think they have a piece of gold and they don't use them. that's a shame. you're wondering??? why don't i use mine?? I have a new set up for stock shaping that works a little better than the em now. make no mistake-- if you are doing a bunch of shaping, filing and spokeshaving-- it is the tool to have.

   I got a giggle out of the ad,  $900 for an Emmert with broken dogs.  But there are those with more money than you know what. Work Safe,  Count to 10 when your done for the day !!
