I purchased the Delta Boss about 5 years ago and I am still pleased with the performance. It gets used on a regular basis and sure beats using the drill press with the drum sanders. You need to hook it up to a good dust collector or shop vac. as it creates a lot of dust. The exhaust port does a great job of collecting all the dust. Once in a great while I have the need to tilt the table but cannot with the Boss. That would be my only complaint. Again if you are in a high volume production shop this would not be the choise for you. In my one man shop it is ideal and cost effective.

V: Been using the Jet JBOSS5 for couple of years now, seems fine. Rather have a floor model if I had the room. I use it a lot more then I thought I would when I bought it. Duke

OSS's vary from $200 to $2000, I don't know where you are in that range. I have a small comercial shop and use the Ridgid combo OSS/ belt sander. It is a great machine. the platen for the belt and the table are ..... what you would expect for the price, but the machine has plenty of power and sands squarely.

anyone know where you can get the replacement rubbers for a craftsman spindle sander? tried there web site couldn't find anything, someone threw out the rubbers before i got the tool
I saw them hanging on the wall at a local Sears hardware joint. Pat
i guess i'll try that the catalog has no idea
I've also been happy with the Delta BOSS. I dont think it's necessarily the best one out there in terms of no table tilt, others with longer spindles, etc. But for the low cost of the Delta it's a very decent machine. Mrbird90 covered most of the same comments I would have made. The only other minor annoyance I have with it is the knurled base at the bottom of the spindle post. It has a real tendency to chew up the hole on the bottom of the rubber sleeves. It's easily solved by putting a washer underneath the rubber though.
If you build it he will come.
I looked at the Delta BOSS and Rigid. I went to Grizzly and looked at their different combination arragements. I ended up getting the big oscilating one for $525. Industrial motor with the gearing in an oilbath, cast iron table with various sleeves. The best part is that you can tip the tabletop to clean up curved bevel cuts. I was doing Adirondack Chairs recently and it was great to clean up the 25 degree bevel cut for the seatback with a tilted sander.
I'd make the same choice if I had to do it again,
Rod
