I have browsed through about six different books and numerous www sites on saw sharpening and find the sameo sameo filing patterns for rip and x cut. Why not sharpen a panel x-cut as you would a two man felling saw, but with half as many rakers ? Why not push and pull? A Hybrid Western/Japanese

I have a copy of Tauntons Complete Illustrated guide to Sharpening and in it is mentioned filing a panel saw with a combination of cross-cut and rip teeth. It says that at one stage Disston made panel saws with combination teeth and advertised them as quick cutting framimg saws.
While this book tells what sort of different things can be done, it unfortunately doesn't go into detail on how to go about doing it.
In regards to push and pull, I haven't seen any info on that.
I hope this is of some help to you.
