hi there,
im planning on making a kitchen work top from mdf and am wondering what paint should i use to give it a hard durable finish that i would need for use in a busy kitchen
any help much needed

Of painted surfaces oil based enamel would be about the best. Still, it's a tough job for paint. That's why kitchen countertops are so often covered with products such as formica. That would be dramatically more durable, and probably cheaper in the long run.
