I am doing some remodeling in a bathroom that has all melmine cabinets. Since they are entrely white, I was wondering if the outsides can be painted, and if so, are there any special techniques that I should take into consideration? I realize that I could always wrap the carcass in plywood and apply a finish, however I just want some color on them. Thanks for any advice.

You could use a melamine paint, just need to scuff the surface to provide tooth.
