I have a fairly large project in mind, I am considering converting a room into a den, with lots of trim work, raised panel wainscoating, and cabinetry. I would like to use mahogany, and am considering buying pallet wood to save some money. I’d like to get some advice on this from those who are familiar with it. My understanding is that it is not really graded as the lenghts tend to be shorter and somewhat random. Does the quality vary much from pallet to pallet and from supplier to supplier? What can i expect from this.
thanks,
David

I would advise to stay away from pallet lumber, The time you'll spend picking through and matching species of lumber will be unrealistic. If you go directly to a pallet factory you'll get very green lumber. You'll also find the "lumber" dirty and tough on saw, planer & jointer blades. The best thing for you to do is buy rough cut stock and make your own lumber.
Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!
