I have a concern over burning pallet wood in my shop stove. Are hardwood pallets treated at all during manufacture? Because I reeeeeeally don’t want to be burning any chemically treated wood in my shop stove.

As far as I am aware most " ordinary" hardwood pallets are not treated.
Some of the big heavy ones that go international are. You can usually tell by the colour, a green tinge means treated. The average beat up looking pallet, I doubt it. They wouldnt waste the time or money on something that has a limited life anyway.

Ironically, about the only chemical treatment that the pallets companies are looking at is for flame retardation! It seems that they get beaten up so badly that rot never really becomes a problem. As of about three months ago, there were no major pallet makers using any chemical treatment on their pallets. I subcontracted a job for a testing company, and while I was there, they were testing pallets for burn properties, and I was discussing just this with the owner. He burns them all the time at his vacation cabin.
The down side is that the companies are desperately trying to come up with composite or plastic pallets to replace the wooden ones so the day of the wooden pallet may be numbered
