I am interested in combining the virtues of a vertical panel saw and panel router using a single frame assembly that can accommodate both a router and a circular saw. Has anyone seen such a beast?
If I can’t find one on the market that’s “affordable” I’m seriously considering assembling one from Festool components – assuming no one here has a better idea 😉
Thanks!

Mike,
Thanks for the lead :Looks promising - if I can figure out a way to configure it as a vertical panel system!

just a thought.....
attach either end of the guide to linear bearings top and bottom of the frame?? Sliding dovetails might do it...Mike Wallace

that would be radical.....Mike Wallace

You getting it Mike.
Today I cut few hundreed " tapered squares" pieces 3x4x1/2 x3 1/2. in few minutes. I draw the shapes on the PVC sheet and I cut the pieces the same way you will program a CNC to cut. Ok. I don't have a vaccum table like the CNC and I have to use clear tape 3" to hold the small pieces together.
Next week you will see all the pictures in the photo gallery. For small to medium size job's The EZ Smart outperforms the CNC.We even use non skid antichip edges to eliminate the clamping.
I' can see where you going with the vertical but when you see how Ez the guide works on the smart table you don't want to deal with any vertical problems. You will not see a CNC Vertical. For many reason's.
Mike, Is nice to see people re-thinking the cut.

I donno as yet if I'll get it or not Dino; I tend to build large projects ina tiny shop, and anything that can simplify or make working with sheet goods easier is something I need to give serious consideration to. A horrizontal set up would take up my entire shop unfortunately, however a vertical option could be made to work for me... Jazzdog's got me thinking some seriously weird contraptions...if it were safe to use in a near vertical application, this system would go a long way to enabling that kinda set up.Mike Wallace

What I' was trying to say is that you can see... beyond. (my GR-English)
With large panels you only have to cut once and they become small. And your smart table becomes smaller and your guide rails. Even if you don't have the room inside your shop....you can allways make few cuts outside.
With a panel saw you need dedicated space. An entire wall.
With a table saw you need even more dedicated space.
With the EZ Smart or a similar system you only need the space for limited time.

Why vertical? you can use the smart table and save your back.
The EZ Smart is a jointer/tablesaw/straight line rip saw/panel saw/and a "manual" CNC system to go. You can cut 3/4 strip's from a plywood and make your own edging by defacing the venner. I' think if go vertical you will lose 90% of the functionality.

Why vertical?
Thanks for your reply. The answer I'm thinking vertical is because it would save floor space while allowing me to leave the tools set up. If I had an enormous shop, I'd opt for a horizontal panel saw like a Felder, Holz-Her, etc., but I don't have that kind of space.-Jazzdogg-
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.
To set up a panel saw you need 20' plus. An entire wall with nothing in front of it. to set up the smart table you need 50 sq,f. max. ONLY when you cut 4x8 panels. And when you done cutting the large panels the smart table becomes layout and assembly table. And when you done (with whatever you use the smart table) you take it to the jobsite. You need to save more room? You will when you start using the EZ Smart. At the end you may don't even need a shop.
Do you think I'm jocking? Take a look at the eurekazone challenge. And I just include my FiatFerrari on the price.
