I am going to be making some panels for a 2′ deep entryway. I am looking for the steps for Style & Rail construction. I am having trouble setting up the bits correctly. Anyone have step by step instructions?
I am using three router bits (Style, Rail & Panel cutters). I am using poplar. The doors we are making are 2′ wide and 7′ high we are making 2 panels.
The panels are for interior hall.
Thanks

tk,
Are you using a router and router bits or a shaper ?
With little info to go on , I would tell you this , we typically run the rail ends first then the stile cuts .
Do you have two separate cutters or bits or some reversing set ?
Adjust your stile cutter and run some stock until you have the desired amount of detail in the front and the back side of the frame . Then you will know how to set your rail end cutter .
let us know where you are on this

dont use poplar. It wont last the year before it rots. try something like quarter Fir for less expensive material.
Lee Valley has tips on setting up rail ans stile bits they give out with their bit sets
