Does anyone know where I can find a paper template for marking the hole locations for a Blum concealed hinge? I need one for an inset hinge, 35mm style.
Thanks!

Could you describe a little more of what your doing?
I've drilled a boat load of Blum hinges and never used a paper template.
How are you going to drill the hole? If your using a drill press make a fence or stop with the 35mm drill the proper amount back from said fence.
If your using a hand held drill then I'd make a jig, drill a hole in a scrap of MDF and put a stop on it so that you can just hold the jig to the door and drill through the existing hole.
More details please

Doug,Thanks for replying. I'm ust wondering if there are any templates that show the distance and location from the edge of both doors and jamb for installing cup-style blum hinges. I'm thinking of something similar to a template that you get when you buy a deadbolt.Certainly I can mock it up without but I thought that printing out a quick template would make quicker work of it.Thanks.Seth

I'm not aware of any templates for the cup hinges.
Your instructions should tell you the distances, from that I think you'll have to make a jig. I've freehanded them before, usually the bit has enough of a spur to get it started but....... its easy for the bit to drift off as well and then your cussing because you tried to take a short cut.

A 35MM hinge template can be found at http://www.eagleamerica.com .
In the search box put in part number 400-2021.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

I did a little surfing and was able to jog my memory as to the most critical dimension. The center of the 35mm cup hole should be 23mm from the edge of the door. I tried a sample and this seemed to be correct. Door is hung and swinging! Thanks.Seth
Seth,
Glad you worked it out. For future reference you should remember that (as Eric pointed out) the spacings are variable within a given range, and are a complex function of the hinge type, the base plate, the thickness of the door, and the gap you wish to leave. Blum has a rather extensive data base with the info you need for any common application of every hinge.

If yer only gonna do two or four hinges, yu could just as easily set out your backset for the mounting plates with a try-square to give the front two holes, and then use the try square to set the centre (back screw) on your hinge centre.
then all you gotta do is line up the centre line (mounting plate has a little mark on it I believe, and watch that yer screws are on all three lines. If memory serves me right the backset for the front two screws is 1 3/8", but you can easily check this by doing a trial run eh? After all, the hardware is easily reusable. You want a little space between your door and yer carcase which more or less conforms to the space a rubber bumber will take up.
But what you should be aware of is that these measurements are not cast in stone.
The depend on the backset of the hinge cup hole from the edge of the door, (I like to use 4mm) and the thickness of the door (cause when it opens that 4mm has to fit somewhere, and the thickness of the carcase material- all of which are interrelated.
Anyone who sells you blum hinges should not only be able to supply you with that information, but also has access to the various marking templates which Blum mfgrs. Here's a page from Blum.com which gives you some indication of what you have to do.....
Hope that helps.
Paper templates? Not a rational scenario to my mind
