Hi John, <!—-><!—-> <!—->

I just set up a new Grizzly G0490 8” jointer and find that the in-feed table is out of alignment. The out-feed table is spot-on with the cutter head, but the in-feed table slightly tilted front to rear (i.e., laterally). That is, when the fence is adjusted square to the out-feed table, it is out of square with the in-feed table by .007” top to bottom.<!—-> <!—->

The beds on this jointer are supported by 2 shafts with eccentric bushing. So it seems like one would have to adjust adjacent bushings simultaneously to avoid stressing the mechanism. Is this right? If so, how is this done? Also, are master bars adequate to do this alignment or do I need to acquire a long precision straight edge? Can you please outline the steps required to make the required adjustment? Thanks for any advice you can offer!<!—-><!—->

Mark,
Checking the alignment of the tables by using a square against the fence isn't going to definitively tell you if the tables are aligned, you are more likely to have discovered that your fence is warped.
To check the alignment of the tables to each other, bring them up to the same height at the back edge as determined with a short 12" straightedge laid across the cutter gap and then see if the straightedge still rests on both tables when shifted to the front of the machine.
If you do have a problem, the adjustment of parallelogram tables is a relatively challenging job, and the details of doing the adjustment will vary somewhat from machine to machine.
I would start out by contacting Grizzly if the machine's manual doesn't cover the procedure. Grizzly may have a service bulletin that will have the exact procedure for the model you own.
You can probably do the alignment with a precision bar but you will have to add a fourth screw to the bar so that you have two screws touching each table.
The link below will take you to a service bulletin for Delta parallelogram jointers that will give you the basic procedure for checking and adjusting that type of jointer.

Hope this helps, John White
I did some searching and looked up the Grizzly manual for your machine on line, starting on page 38 of the manual they explain how to align the tables.
