Want to do partial inset doors on my bookcase..but there is no center stile. Anyone have a creative way to do them where they meet in the middle? So far my choices are 1. Not to do them and do inset doors, but I have already done rabbeted drawer fronts so I thought they should match. 2. put a fake center stile on the back side of one of the doors. 3. just get them as close as i can.
I cant put a mull strip over the front of the doors because of the roundover I will put on the door edges. If I did inset doors I could. Also if I did inset I could overlap the doors with a half-lap joint and even put a bead down the middle..hmmm leaning towrd full inset doors now.
any ideas for me?
thanks

Cuta, Sounds like a 3/8" lip drawer face and doors that match , those are not considered actual inset .You do not need anything between the doors ,trim them to fit with a 1/16th or so gap between them .
On lipped doors I have run the lip all around except the edges where they come together , usually I'll slightly bevel them to allow greater clearance while still fitting tight and they look better too.

FWIW, I concur with Dusty's suggestion - just trim the doors so the opening between them is reasonably close - 1/16" to 1/8" usually looks fine. The fake stile strip on one door is a PITA to deal with. My (cheap) kitchen cabinets are made that way, and I hate them.
