Hello,
I want to have a sewing cabinet custom made with an air lift. Where can I get an air lift for a reasonable price?
Also, where can I get the hardware necessary to install the sewing machine, etc?
Thanks, guys!

Sewing cabinet parts
I got an airlift at Rockler.com. i was not all that satisfied with it, though. If I were to do it again, I would at least look at electric systems used to hoist TV's out of cabinet cavities, as you would have better positional control. My wife's comments have been that the air lift is too hard for her to move to a flush mount or table top position.
Another alternative
As an alternative to an air or motor lift, you might consider the design of the old Singer cabinets. In those, the sewing machine was in a balanced pivot housing that allowed the machine to be moved from storage position to sewing position with minimal effort. If you are having the cabinet custom-built, the cabinetmaker should be able to do something similar for your machine.
I've used the lift from Rockler as well and was less than enthusiastic about the outcome. It takes a fair amount of effort to hit the different settings. I searched for a while and was unable to find a source for any other lifts. I know they are out there, but I sure couldn't find them. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the Rockler at 7.5
The problem with using the old Singer design is most sewing machines today are designed to be used in 2 configurations; a flush setting like the older machines and a higher setting to allow for "free arm" sewing. The old Singer design only accomodates the flush setting.
