Hi All,
We are building a house for a customer and are about 2 weeks away from working on the roof, the pitch is 18/12 and we are going to be 3 stories up. All this will put us about 40 feet to the peak. I am looking at the Paslode cordless impulse framing gun for all that high work. Does anyone have one out there and what do you think of them, will it save the day. Thank you Rick.

Buy one!! get an extra battery. Understand the gas cartridges cost 18 bucks ca. or 14 u.s. for a package of two. Appx 1200 shots per cartridege. They are unbelievable on the roof. They are prone to falling off your toolbelt. So what we've done is got some steel cable and looped it around the belt hook on the gun and put a Climbers hook on the other end this allows us to loop it securely to our belt when were climbing. To the rafters when were not using it. You don't have a hose to lower it with, and it's to expensive to drop. You save sooo much time using this gun on the roof, when you sheathing, it's a different story it's not practical. For the actual frame you will not be dissappointed. I can usally brace a 3000 sq.ft roof install insulation stop in less than 1 hour. Just b/c it's so easy to move with. Not to mention it's super light. You do have to clean them regularly, not as much as they reccomend but when they start misfiring, you have to clean them. Not a big deal. Maybee thats biased, Most guys that don't have one will tell you it's not THAT much faster, they've never used one.My first one fell out the back of my truck, I bought another on right away.Slightly off topic, but you know what else is convenient for the roof is the dewalt 24 volt cordless skillsaw, it's only weakness is not having a rafter hook. You can use it to frame the floor too. Just don't start nailing your plywood down with it, it's too expensive. Good luck
