I am unhappy with the paste fillers I’ve found to fill in grain (anyone ever use oak?. I thought I might be able to mix my own but I’m having no luck over the past YEAR. Can anyone steer me to a reliable product for this stage of finishing, or, does anyone care to share a recipe? Thanks.

I like Behlen's Por-O-Pac, primarily because I'm used to it. It works fine for me.
Alternatively, old timers used Plaster of Paris. It works real easily, and sure sucks up stain.
