I wanted to take a moment and provide a review of one of our members website and products. I had the need for a specialized router plate to do a particular function with a hand held router that I would normally do in a table. The project requires a large bit to be used to chamfer a an edge on a long post in a jig. The challenge was that even with the stock “larger” PC template it was not wide enough to allow the whiteside chamfer bit to pass through it. It was thin and not what I wanted. I sent a note to Pat because I’ve been a fan of his site for a long time although I’d never bought from him. I wanted a larger base to provide more support as the cutting tool is very large. He had one that would fit my needs but I needed two things, the Opening needed widening, and since I’m a lefty I wanted it flipped so that I can run the PC690 D-handle with my left hand and hold the base knob with my right hand. He said no problem and I had it in less than a week. I’ve attached a couple pictures (sorry one’s a tad blurry) that shows his plate .vs. a factory PC plate. Anyway, if you have ever been to his site www.patwarner.com , you know the quality of his jigs. He was easy to work with and I’d recommend his fixtures. I’m going to be getting some more education information from him in the future.
The adventure continues. |

Lefty/Righty
Well you have a template now. Are you going to make a Lefty version ? ;-)
Those are a very handy attachment for stable edge work, good job. Mine isn't as fancy, it's 13"X13"X3/8 chunk.
Pat Warner bases
Two things I learned early in my routing experience: 1) the stock "round" bases aren't really round (hence, you can't use the edge of the base as a reliable guide edge), and 2) the flat-head screws that attach the base to the router housing don't allow you to center the guide bushing with any degree of precision. Mr. Warner's precision base and centering tool solves both problems. His offset base is also handy. The stock bases on all my routers have been replaced.
