PC oscillating spindle sander tips
I have quickly discovered that when using the 4.5″ long sanding drums that maybe only 1/3 of the grit will get used, at least for 3/4″ thickness or less sanding. What I am now doing is using the 1″ long drums and alternating their location on the spindle as they wear out.
This is another tool I should have bought 20 years ago.

I add a platform, a 2x "base" to wear the upper sections before tossing out the sandpaper.
I agree, Mike. It's a great tool. Beats the heck out of trying to sand curves with a random orbit sander...

I have been having good luck with it for smoothing out straight edges also, especially end grain.
One thing I've noticed with my band saw is that even though the bed is 90 degrees to the blade, I don't get perfect 90 degree edges on cut boards. Since the cut-outs have curved edges, that leaves only the spindle sander to get them to 90 degree edges.
