Penn State Ind. Saw Guard & ductwork
I am replacing the stock blade guard on my Grizzly 1023slx and I really like the overarm style. The cost has been prohibitive, but I found this one from Penn State Industries. It looks like a Excalibur knockoff, but for a lot less. It is on sale for $149.00. Has anybody here bought anything from them? I am considering purchasing some ductwork for my dust collector as well. They sent me a form to fill out and they will calculate the parts needed. I have never purchsed from them, so any experience positive or negative would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I have bought a few things from Penn State, including the guard. I bought just the guard itself, not the overhead portion. They are a reputable company, never had a problem with the few tools I have bought. A dust collector was the largest purchase, turning tools and supplies and a few hand tools. Very satisfied with everything I purchased.

Bones,
I just bought the same guard/collector on sale. It shipped quick and arrived in a week. The box was cut open- apparently by parts shifting inside, some parts were missing, and Penn State shipped another one the next day. No hassles. Second one arrived no problem. Works well. I'd guestimate that it gets ~85% of the dust from the top of the blade - I have a Shop Fox 1677 with the extension rails, almost the same as your Griz xcept for the paint, and use a Bies splitter.
Hi Bones,
I have purchased one of their dust collectors, received it 3 days later. One of the parts was damaged in transit (UPS), called an explained the damage, new part arrived 2 days later. So I have been very satisfied with Penn States service. I would buy from them again..
Best of Luck.
