Hey fellow dust devils,
I just picked up a used Performax 22-44 drum sander in good shape but without the motor. I know the drum speed is supposed to 1600 rpm but can’t find the specs for the motor (except it was originally single phase 120V 1.5hp). My question is: will someone check their Performax and let me what the motor rpms are supposed to be (1725 or 3450). I know I can mix and match pulleys to get the correct drum speed but I’d feel better if I had some corroboration. Many thanks in advance!

Motor headache
Do you already have a spare motor or are you buying a new one ??
Wouldn't a direct bolt up original frame be much easier. How are you going to compensate for raising and lowering the drum with a pulley arrangement.? Curious.
Age has it's uses
Mine is an older model and the motor actually sits on the base and is connected by a belt. I know the newer ones tied the motor directly the the drum (or at least I think they did). In this model the motor mount bracket is tied to the drum lift so they go up and down together.

Older Performax w/Manual
Hi Steve,
I have an older Performax 22-44 PRO Drum Sander. The WMH Tool Group stock number was 638003. I've attached a PDF version of the manual in which you'll find specs . My motor is a TEFC 1 3/4 HP, 1PH, 110V. It's fixed to a bracket attached to the support column and is connected to the drum via a belt. The motor and drum are always in fixed positions. The conveyor table moves up and down instead of the motor or drum moving up or down. There is a separate motor for the conveyor table, a 1/30 HP direct drive DC.
