V.F.: I have no experience with any brand of converter but as an electrician of thirty someodd years I don't like adding all the equipment just to run a simple motor driven tool. There is a lot of power wasted (heat, friction, induction, "copper loss") and a lot more parts to break. Do without it if you can. Duke

It's a good company with good tech help. Used to use them a lot when I worked as a tech for a machine dealer.

I have a small Phase-o-matic (for a 2hp motor) to run a 20" 3ph band saw I got for cheap. It takes a few seconds to get everything going, but once it does, it runs well. I gave it some pretty tough test cuts to see how it did and it did well, but I haven't pushed it too hard for any long periods of time though.
