pic-a-nic tables Mr. Ranger, sir
I have been asked to make a picnic table for a customer which seems very straightforward. As with most projects I usually consult an article or book anyway to make sure I dot my “i” s, and cross my “t” s. I had a couple such articles ….somewhere….that place eludes me. As is custom, I’m sure I’ll find that magazine or article as soon as I finish the table. Does anyone have a good sourcebook/article or magazine on outdoor furniture-construction and finishing advice?

A few years ago I biult a neat table for my wife for Mother's Day. It is a picnic table that folds up into a park bench. i made it out of cedar and put on a spar urethane finish. The table is about 4 yrs old and is sill as good as the day I built it. you can order the plans at http://www.bentable.com There are a lot of parts to the the table bit once they are cut and shaped it all goes together fairly quickly. At the time I built it I was an amateur and still managed to make it work. The plans come with full size drawings, tool list and hardware list.
If you live near a Lowe's or Home Depot, they both have displays of outdoor projects and I believe I've seen cover photos of things like picnic benches and tables. Sorry I can't be more help, but check them out if you can. Also, Fine Woodworking and Lee Valley offer plans as well as other online sources. Good luck.
thanks....
I recently saw a picnic table that folds back to a park bench, and was so impressed by it that I took a series of photos with my pix phone.
If they can be of any help to you, I am willing to send you the photos.
They are all in jpeg format
If it wouldn't be too much trouble I'd like to take a look at them. thanks
