When you're composing a message in the edit window, down at the bottom of the screen there's a button to "Attache Files." Click on that and it will let you browse your computer for an image to upload. Follow the directions on screen. When you post your message, that uploaded image shows up as an attachment.
There are a few browsers that aren't supported. I'm not exactly sure what those are but if you're running IE on Windows you should have no problems.
A lesser known way of posting images is to find an image that is already on the Web (which is essentially what you're doing when you upload an image through Knots), right click on the image, and choose "copy" from the menu. Then back in the edit window choose "paste" and it will embed the image in the body of text. Like the one below, which I copied from our homepage:

Thanks for the help. I will try itonly change is the same
Well I tried that, it accepted a file, but it didn't post. May be because I'm on a Apple?
A caveat about imbeding images within a message (rather than as an attachment). If you (the universal "you") don't know how to edit the images to get their file size down to around 40-50 Kb, please don't do it! By imbedding them within the message, readers have no choice whether to download them or not, and if (as if frequent with attachments) the image is hundreds of Kb, a dial-up user is unfairly stuck waiting.
In Matt's example, a picture already on the Web, chances are it's already downsized (and possibly copyrighted. Ooops). But if it's a large picture (Right-click>>Properties) or one you took yourself and loaded onto an FTP site, it'd be nice to edit it first.

dave
How did you do that??
Not sure if it matters but I'm using a powerbook with OS 10.4.8 and the Safari browser 2.0.4locate the image on the web
http://www.woodcraft.com/images/family/web5263tmb.jpgcontrol click on image to bring up menu> choose copy image
return to knots post and pasteproceed to postIf I am posting an image of my work - I just use the attach files button at the bottom of the screen.
The funny part is when I click Upload... nothing seems to happen ... for about 30-40 seconds- then finally I get a message that upload is complete. I realize it is uploading... but no message or anything indicating upload in progress.Keep trying with tiny images- it will save you time and save readers of this forum from having to download stuff with slower dial-upsgood luck- I'm off to start prepping the giant bird for a feast :-)

I think i have it figured out, when you look for a file, are you in iphoto, or in pictures, or where? How do you control the size?
Okay- Here is where Art and science meet
You need a photoshop/photoshop elements/or graphic converter
the latter comes free on most macs for the past several years.Short lesson- in photoshop-Open photo>go to image menu> image size> choose size you like >save as jpegIn graphic converter Open photo>go to picture menu>size>scale>choose size you like >save as jpeg.like any skill> it will be second nature after a few practice trys
later
Thanks for the info, I have I Photo, I assume it is the same
51K is a good size.
Otherwise, if you have a one meg photo, that's different. And, you don't need photoshop, etc.,
In your main screen, go to Programs, Paint.
Then, in Paint, pull up your photo.
Go to Image,
Go to Stretch/Skew
Then you will see Horizontal 100% and Vertical 100%.
I typically change mine to about 30% each.
Then when you save, give it a different name so that you maintain your original.
Have fun,

Thanks for the info I'm on a mac so I don't have that stuff
Hey Skidoo,There is a way to shrink images using iPhoto.1. Open iPhoto and double click on the image you want to resize
2. In the top menu bar click on "File" and choose "Export" from the list of options
3. That will bring up an export window and it will ask you if you want to export it full size or reduce the size. Choose "Scale Images No Larger Than" and set it for about 400 pixels wide.
4. Click "export" and it will ask you where you want to save the image. I created a folder on my desktop called "Exported Images" and I save them all there.
5. Once complete, you will have an exported copy on your desktop of the image at a smaller size, which you can easily upload into Knots!- Matt
Wonderful information. Thanks very much. I like Mac, but it isn't easy for us old folk to learn, or is it just me???
I just had to try myself.
It should be an old-fashioned ice box I built.
Joel
Well it was but it was way too big -- i'll try again after I reduce it.

Joel

You live in an "icebox" don't you? lol

Thank you for the image, it is beautiful. How will you, or will you be able to, retain the colour?
