There are plenty of options if you look at the furniture store sites Ethan Allen etc. I have made a couple of things I call TV tables one in particular I modled after the Talliesen (sp) table, basicly just regular tables but the dimensions worked for holding a modern TV. but neither of theses TV tables is set up to carry all the usual stuff you would find in an entertainment system.
It looks like many people are adapting designs from console tables for modern flat screen TV's. I myself am considering something along the lines of a Danish Modern built in console for my main movie, Flyer game watching TV.
Anyhow just my opinion but I love the new TV styles partly because they enable a person to get away from the huge entertainment armoir.
Here are 3 pics from a piece that I just finished. It's made from ribbon-striped mahogany, and the doors are paneled in tamo ash veneer. Joinery is dovetail-keyed miters.
The demensions are 64w 25h 20d. The finish is waterlox and wax.

Spectacular piece. Thanks.
Hello:
I recently completed a stand for my new Sony 50" rear projection television. Basically, I had one spot in the family room to place this: A recessed area that was 2' deep x 6 feet wide. There was a built in wet bar in this spot when we bought the house.
Anyway, with the space I had to work with, I built a stand that would hold the TV and my A/V rec'vr, DVD player, Monster surge/line conditioner, XBox, and LCR speakers, etc. . The center drawers are for the DVD's, controllers, and whatever else the LOML wants to stick there.
I basically built something that was functional. Seems to work fairly well. Used cherry plywood and solids for the face frame. Blum hinges and slides. Used General conditioner, clear stain and satin Poly. Wiped on everything with a cloth and got the look I wanted.

Thanks. I like the look. Is there glass in the upper openings? I can't make out whether it is black glass or open with equipment in there.
Unfortunately, this is the only place I had to put the left, right and center speakers. There is an entrance door to the room just to the left of the cabinet and a door for the heater closet to the right. The speaker separation isn't the ultimate, but it still sounds pretty good.
I would have loved to turn them into drawers, but had to use them for the speakers. There is a funny story about measuring the openings to fit the speakers, but I will just pretend that I knew what I was doing and leave it at that.
The doors on the left and right use a seeded glass.

Thanks. I think I see the speakers now that I know what I am looking at. Good idea. I hadn't thought of doing that but my system has some very small speakers that would fit into the outer openings and the subwoofer can go anywhere but needs to be separated from the others.
heres a cabinet I built for my 50 inch sony..
I am right with you on this one. I have an M & K subwoofer over in one corner and some surround speakers back behind the couch. Works fairly well.
