d,
Usually you re size in a photo editing program or the camera's program , you save the re sized smaller version . Then upload the saved file to Knots .
hope this helps

If you have a photo editing program, you can resize with that, like dusty said. Otherwise, you can download Irfanview for free, and you can edit all your photo's with this software. http://www.irfanview.com

In my photo program, iPhoto - on a Mac, I select a photo, then click "Export". The screen then asks where I want to Export - but it also has a selection box for "Full Size" or "Select the size". I generally choose about 300 x 200 which results in a pic of about 60 Kb.

If you're program gives you an exporting-size option, that's certainly the easiest. If not, there are 3 things you need to do:
The Crop and Re-size options are (I think) usually found under Image in the photo-editing program. After you've done that do File-->Save As and give the photo a new name (thereby saving your original). Make sure you select a .jpg format as the "type." If it wants to know quality, pick something in the middle or slightly above (higher quality = bigger file).
To find the actual file size, you may have to go to the Windows Explorer thing (some editing programs give you the info, some don't). Aim for less than 50 kb if at all possible, for the sake of dial-up members.
It probably depends on the particular program, but try ( once the picture file is open ) hitting Ctrl / R keys to resize and Ctrl / S to save it.
