Hi All,
I could use some advice.
I want to build some wood framed mirrors for my wife, but I can’t find any “picture frame” moldings locally. Anyone know where I might by unfinished, hardwood molding (by length)?
The mirrors will be painted white and will probably be around 20″ x 30″. A closed grain wood for the molding would be best (i.e. not oak). I imagine the molding will probably be between 2.5″ and 4″ in width to look right on such a big mirror.
I have a nice miter saw and spray gun. So, I want to do most of the work myself. I haven’t considered ‘making’ my own molding.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions,
John

Rockler carries picture frame molding.

My rule of thumb is if the wife wants me to make something for her than i get a new tool. so my idea is to get a table saw and a dado blade and make your own. in the end it may be cheaper than buying the molding and cutting it on the miter saw. it will be more rewarding to start with a piece of wood and end with a finished product.
This is the way i became a professional woodworker.

This place has about everything under the sun. I found it while I was looking for a mat cutting supply house.
