Pine Finish with General Finishes Gel Stain is too Red
I tried to refinish just the top of a thick pine irish immigrant table to match the legs. Being a novice, this was obviously a terrible idea, but here I am. The finish is not TERRIBLE but it is definately too red. The table was pine, and I applied wood condtioner. Then I used General Finsihes Nutmeg and it seemed pretty even, a bit orange but that is how it looked on the legs as an undertone. Then I applied a uneven (it seems) coat of GF Java gel stain. It was pretty blotchy but my bigger issue is what used ot look orange now looks red (the undercoat coming through). I would really like for it to be brown. Is there anything I can do before I seal the table to fix this. My husband is not willing to start over and will live with it as is. But it will drive me crazy every time I look at it.

Just a suggestion
I’m confident if you had applied another few coats of the Java Gel Stain, it would have continued to even out and become a much deeper tone. But I also read an article at https://ukessay.com/help-with-dissertation-writing where there was a suggestion to take the upper coat away and try to put another few coats of Java Gel Stain.
