The interior of my pine window case has sun/water marks (see attached image). The wood does not seem to be rotten just ugly. Any suggestions on refinishing?

Refinishing
You could refinish but there is too much to learn before attempting the job. An easy way out may be to get one of those stain colored polys and after a light sanding - give the wood two color coats to brighten it up -
