I have some sliding closet doors and I thought it might be nice to convert them to pivot doors because they are MDF and I don’t want to A) build a frame or B) route them.
However, pivot hinges seem to be this super specialized thing and I cannot find an inexpensive solution for this lightweight (~10lb) application.
Can anybody please recommend a source?

How big are the doors?
Roughly 30x80, typical hollow core, just hung as sliders.
Part of the problem you are having is that pivot doors are ordinarily used in commercial applications. If you want to take a chance look at Doorware and at Item No: GLO-OHC-Pivot @ $18.95. The hinges are for center pivoting doors that can weigh up to 200 lbs, but note a center pivot hinge has no torque on the hinge, just the door weight. Take a look at parts of the hardware for bi-fold doors; if you think about it a bifold door pivots on its outer leaf. That kind of hardware is available everywhere e.g. Lowe's. The trick is that you can't let the top of the door slide so perhaps you can use a floor pivot at the top. Sorry I didn't have an exact answer.
Thanks for the reply.
