John,
I have a Stanley block plane #220 which belonged to my grandfather.
The blade was sent out to be sharpend and was lost. Do you know where I might be able to purchase a replacement ?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

You may be in luck, Stanley still makes a #220 plane in both England and the U.S.. The parts page for the U.S. version is: http://stores.stanleytools.com/Planes/Block%20Planes/12-220%20USA/ The parts page for the U.K version is: http://stores.stanleytools.com/Planes/Block%20Planes/12-220%20England/ The blade from one or the other may fit your plane.
Lie-Nielsen also makes a dozen or so replacement blades for block planes, http://www.lie-nielsen.com/catalog.php?cat=512, one of their blades may fit your plane even though they don't list your model number, I'd give them a call.
Another approach would be to purchase a beat up model #220 just for the blade. It isn't considered an especially valuable plane.
