Plane question-Calvert Stevens
Dear all
I’m after a bit of a history lesson …. being easily influenced and being a poor loser I ended up buying a plane on ebay, essentially its a record plane circa late 1980s, described as a Calvert Stevens CS88. Given the description and pictures it incorporates a bunch of features, principal among them a Norris style adjuster…..can anyone give me any history on this or thoughts..I did a bit of digging myself but came up dry..thanks in anticipation…..Iain

Iain,
Here is a link to a web discussion speaking about your CS88. The site offers a fairly complete history of the Calvert Stevens planes.

Dan thanks a bunch for that ....well I did want a 'quality' 41/2 but it does looks like I'm still suffering with shiny kit syndrome...take care Iain
